To fall behind? Read our previous The good doctor recap here.
This week on The good doctorShaun adapts to Lea having a boyfriend, while Glbadman struggles with the side effects of chemotherapy.
Shaun surprises Lea when he says how much he loves his new boyfriend, Jake. Lea asks if it would be all right if she invited Jake to watch a movie, which Shaun misinterpreted as an open invitation to invite the three to watch a movie together. He goes home after work and makes corn, then knocks on Lea 's door, interrupting a moment of intimacy with Jake. Lea goes out and explains to Shaun that he must respect his privacy. All three can be friends, but she will also want to spend time solo with Jake. Shaun signals her understanding, then Lea accepts the movie night.
Subsequently, Shaun visits Glbadman unknowingly and discovers that his mentor has lied to him about his current state. He finds Glbadman in bed, hooked to an intravenous; he has persistent headaches and nausea as a result of his aggressive treatment against PCV. He explains to Shaun, annoyed, that he can not do anything about it, so Shaun returns to his apartment, where he confides in Lea. She tells him that he has to respect Glbady's wishes, even if it means withdrawing. A grateful Shaun then thanks Lea for her advice and tells her that her life is better when she is there. (Jackdaw!)
The next night, Shaun can hear Lea and Jake fight their way through the wall. He tries to ignore it, but he can not. He opens the drawer of his dresser and pulls out a pair of noise-canceling headphones, but that is not enough. It's more than sounds; Shaun clearly does not agree with the current dynamics, but he does not know how to react to these feelings – at least not yet. And then he gets up and goes back to Glbadman. He finds his mentor on the floor of the bathroom, unable to get up after vomiting. Rather than saying anything, Shaun lies down and sits next to Glbadman to offer his shoulder. He can not be Glbadman's doctor, but he can still be his friend.
Also interesting to discuss …

* Mia calls Park to work. Having promised to open up further, Park told Claire that he had found his ex. Claire congratulates her colleague and tells her that she is there for him if he wants to speak.
* The patient of Melendez this week is none other than the old Mrs. Kim! Gilmore Girls veterinarian Emily Kuroda plays Sunny Lee, who rushes to Saint-Bonaventure with a broken heart. During the episode, we learn that Sunny is separated from her daughter, Grace, for 15 years, after setting aside after deciding to go to Juilliard and pursue a career in the music. Since then, she has basically replaced her daughter with a little older guardian than Grace, and this dynamic proves to Grace that her mother is capable of love. At the end of the hour, Sunny and her relationship with Grace are on the road to recovery.
* Last but not least is Lim's patient, Lana Moore, an autistic woman with an arteriovenous malformation. Basically, Lana is exposed to multiple aneurysms and irreversible brain damage. The high-risk procedure required to remove abnormal blood vessels, during which Lana must remain conscious, may compromise her ability to speak. Lim, Shaun and Morgan appeal to her autistic compatriot Javi, Lana's roommate and sometimes to a friend who enjoys it, to question her during the operation to ensure she remains responsive throughout her intervention. The operation is finally a success and Javi tells Lana that he is in love with her.
