Remains of Thelma Krull found in a forested and remote area: police

UPDATE: Winnipeg police said confirmed human remains of Thelma Krull were found in late October in the Rural Municipality of Taché.

Investigators said Thursday that the discovery was made in an isolated wooded area east of Highway 12 and north of Highway 1 on October 27.

The police claimed that Krull's family had been informed and asked for confidentiality. The police also thanked members of the public for their help in the investigation and appealed for help from those in the Taché region as well as the Valley Gardens area where Krull was seen for the last time.

Sgt. Wes Rommel stated that it was thought that Krull had been taken to a residence, building or car in the Valley Gardens area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Winnipeg Police Service's homicide investigators or tip Crime Stoppers.

EARLIER: The Winnipeg Police Service will update the Thelma Krull homicide investigation at 1 pm on Thursday.

Krull was last seen on July 11, 2015 in the East Kildonan area. According to the police, she left her home in the Grbadie Boulevard neighborhood at 7:23 am to arrive at Civic Park near Kildonan East Collegiate at approximately 8:00 am

Some of her belongings, including her glbades and mobile phone, have since been found.

Police said that after issuing a press release on July 11, 2016, she was informed of a possible Krull sighting in the Kimberley Avenue area, east of Gateway Road. It has been reported that a woman wearing a description similar to that of Krull would have been seen in the company of a man.

The Winnipeg police said this information was an important part of his investigation.

In July 2018, on the occasion of the third anniversary of Krull's disappearance, the police said they had received 400 tips about the case.
