WELLINGTON, New Zealand – The Duke and Duchess of Susbad are scheduled to arrive in New Zealand Sunday afternoon for the final leg of their 16-day South Pacific tour.
Prince Harry and his wife Meghan are scheduled to spend four days in New Zealand, where they will meet with Premier Jacinda Ardern, walk in a national park, meet with young people in training to be part of the hatchery film industry for the first time. New Zealand national bird, the kiwi.
The couple must arrive in the same plane as a number of competitors returning from the Sydney Invictus Games, created by Harry in 2014. The games offer sick and injured servicemen and veterans the opportunity to participate in sports such as the wheelchair basketball.
On Saturday, Prince Harry closed the games in Sydney with a speech to a crowd of 12,000 at the closing ceremony, in which he thanked the 500 competitors from 18 countries.
"Our competitors have helped turn the problem of mental health into an exciting story into a sad story," said Harry. "They want to live rather than just be alive."
The prince said that even though Invictus' competitors were often called heroes or legends, they were just ordinary men and women doing extraordinary things and reminding everyone that no challenge was needed. It's too difficult to pick up.
Harry and Meghan, four months pregnant, also visited Fiji and Tonga during their tour.
