Mumbai, October 23 (IANS) Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko, among the astronauts who have spent one of the longest periods in space, will visit here on one occasion when he will talk about his experiences above the earth, said Wednesday a manager.

Kornienko was invited Thursday in Mumbai as part of the "Rosatom Festival of Science and Culture" organized by the Nehru Science Center, Mumbai and the Russian Corporation for Nuclear Energy Rosatom, to be held here from 25 to 26 October.

The cosmonaut, who along with NASA astronaut Scott Kelly, spent 342 days in space on the International Space Station (ISS), will share his experiences at a motivational conference .

Kornienko, a 58-year-old engineer, and Kelly were part of the "One-Year Crew Mission" that began on March 27, 2015, the longest of all astronauts aboard the ISS.

Among other things, they studied the effects of extended periods in space on the human, physical, psychological and emotional aspects that could help future planned inhabited explorations in the solar system.

Selected for cosmonaut training in 1998, Kornienko spent just over 516 days in space. He has also completed two space walks lasting more than 12 hours during his extraterrestrial career.

A book titled "Nuclear ABC?" Will also be published during this two-day event.
