VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Heads up if you need to take the Knight Street Bridge this afternoon – it was closed to traffic heading south after a ride involving a semitrailer

»

"Our crews were witnessing a grbad fire at 63rd Street and Knight Street when they saw a semi trailer towing towards the Knight Street Bridge heading south from 39, end of the ramp.

The Vancouver Fire Heavy Rescue Team managed to get a patient out of the truck, but the injuries are unclear at the moment. A hazardous materials team has been appointed to deal with fluid spills.

"There is a lot of debris on the road and the truck is blocking all the tracks going south," he says. "The hazardous materials team has arrived to start cleaning the fluids and removing all the diesel tanks from the truck even before it can attempt to be straightened out."

Half returned to the north end of the bridge just after 2:00 am

It is unclear exactly what caused the U-turn, and it is unclear exactly when the bridge will reopen.

"The truck is blocking all tracks, it's not just an emergency device," Gormick says. "Once the fluids are removed and the law enforcement is complete, the truck load will have to be removed and transferred to another truck. The truck will have been straightened and all the road barriers that will be moved will have to be put in place before traffic can enter the bridge.
