Firefighters were called north-east of Calgary on Saturday morning to put out a huge fire involving two detached garages.

Just before noon, the Calgary Fire Department was on the scene in the 200 block of Skyview Springs Garden.

In the driveway, two houses, a garage and a shed were slightly damaged.

The two original garages were destroyed and three vehicles were destroyed.

Police ordered the evacuation of the five threatened homes, briefly touching 12 people and two pets until they could go back there.

Firefighters stated that no injuries had been reported and that the cause was under investigation.

Isabelle Lane, 14, called 911 when she saw the fire engulf a garage in her neighborhood

"The fire was spreading from this garage to the one next door," she says. "We were really worried."

Lane's garage felt the heat too, causing minor damage.

"It was so hot, the fire – even our house started to melt a bit," Lane said. "And we were just apart and we could feel it fully, how hot it was."
