Mumbai, October 28
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will begin working on the biopic of astronaut Rakesh Sharma early next year, announced producer Ronnie Screwvala.
With the screenplay written by Anjum Rajabali, the film will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Screwvala under their respective banners Roy Kapur Films and RSVP Films.
According to reports, Bhumi Pednekar is said to have signed in the film alongside Shah Rukh, which would be entitled "Saare Jahaan Se Achcha", but Ronnie announced that an official announcement would be made soon.
"We are doing this film with Shah Rukh Khan, we should start in February or March of next year, but we have not announced the female lead yet," Ronnie told PTI.
The producer, who also supported Sushant Singh Rajput's film "Kedarnath" – Sara Ali Khan, said he wanted to be more involved in each of the projects in which he participates.
"This time there is no constraint, I can do three films a year, maybe six, the most important thing is to tell the stories I want to tell. I'm going to concentrate on the script, that's the plan, "he said.
Ronnie was speaking on the sidelines of the 20th Jio MAMI Film Festival in Mumbai, where his film "Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota" was premiered in India.
The producer said that when he was approached by director Vasan Bala, he understood the vision of the filmmaker.
"If you look at the script and read it, at this point you run into question marks: what, why, and how it happens." For me, working with Vasan in the long run was very important. I understood the vision and decided to return.
"With this kind of film, you think we can do more to make it more public so the music has reached a different level and the distribution was already perfect," he added.
The film tells the story of a young man born without pain receivers who aspires to defeat 100 opponents in a kumite tournament.
The comedy event recently won the People's Choice Award in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival and drew resounding resonance at its premiere in India.
But for Ronnie, who plans to release the film early next year, the real test would be the reaction of the public.
"The real answer and the test, is when we go out in the trade." The response to the TIFF and the price were lovely, even here nobody wanted to get up – we had such a response, "he said. -he declares. – PTI
