Six Nations fire station closed after thieves try to steal trucks

A Six Nations fire station was forced to close, causing delays in the region, following a rampant introduction during which thieves attempted to steal fire trucks, causing over $ 200,000 in damages .

The Six Nations Fire Service announced Tuesday that the number three fire station at 2134 Cayuga Road will be closed for an indefinite period.

"A burglary took place at the station and thieves broke through a security fence and a double concrete block wall, located at the back of the fire station.

"Once inside, the thieves stole all the equipment from two fire trucks and tried to steal the fire trucks, which damaged them a lot."

According to officials, initial estimates indicate that the value of thefts and damages exceeds $ 200,000.

"Until the station and the trucks can be repaired and the highly specialized equipment is replaced, we will not be able to reopen the No. 3 fire station," the fire department said.
