Several people were arrested for drug trafficking as a result of an undercover operation in Vernon earlier this year.
On July 11, 2018, a 35-year-old man from Vernon was arrested for three counts of drug trafficking.
During his arrest, the man was in possession of many small bags of crack and an alleged mixture of heroin and fentanyl packaged for sale on the street, resulting in two more possession charges for the purpose of traffic.
On July 13, a 34-year-old man from Vernon was arrested for a drug trafficking chief in May and for two counts of drug trafficking in June.
On July 17, a 38-year-old man from Vernon was arrested for a drug smuggling leader in April.
Since that time, the RCMP's targeted police unit in Vernon North Okanagan has conducted an investigation that resulted in six more arrests and nine more counts of drug trafficking.
Of the arrests made, nine men, all from Vernon, face charges of alleged fentanyl trafficking and a mixture of heroin and fentanyl.
Johanna Pauliuk, a 43-year-old woman, is wanted for two counts of drug trafficking resulting from the undercover operation.
"The project was very successful because it targeted drug trafficking on the street," said Sgt. David Evans. "We have specifically targeted the sale of fentanyl, which poses a significant risk to public safety. All drugs purchased by the infiltration agents were fentanyl or fentanyl mixed with heroin. "
