EDMONTON – Terrell Owens has not finished football yet
According to a CFL source, the former NFL receiver has activated a 10-day window to receive a contract offer from Eskimos from Edmonton before July 24. Owens, 44, who last played professional football in 2010, has been on the list of 45 players in Edmonton since June 19.
Edmonton could offer Owens a two-year contract at $ 54,000 a year, the CFL minimum. If Owens rejected it, the Eskimos would retain their rights for another year.
Edmonton could exchange Owens' rights or refuse to bid him within 10 days, which would remove his name from his trading list. This would allow another team to place it on their trading list and actually restart the whole process.
Owens recently released a social media video stating that he ran 40 yards in 4.43 seconds.
Owens was nominated for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame next month, but declined an invitation to the enshrining ceremony. Instead, Owens plans to deliver his speech at the Hall of Fame at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, his alma mater, on Aug. 4.
Owens was selected in the third round, No. 89, in the 1996 NFL draft by San Francisco. He has played for five teams – the 49ers, Philadelphia, Dallas, Buffalo and Cincinnati – over 16 seasons, recording 1,078 career wins for 15,934 yards and 153 touchdowns.
He is second in receivers and third in touchdown.
Owens was five-time All-Pro first team and six-time Pro Bowler.
In 2012, Owens had 35 badists for 420 yards and 10 touchdowns in eight games with the Allen Wranglers of the indoor football league. . He signed with the Seattle Seahawks during the training camp that year but was released.
