The App Store for jailbroken devices, Cydia Store, officially closes its doors

After being available for many years to allow users to fully customize the operating system, the Cydia Store (available only for jailbroken devices) is closing down.

Saurik, the creator of Cydia, announced the announcement on a Reddit thread Friday night. He added that the process was long, with the store reporting little or no money. The store recently had a bug that could have put users at risk.

The reality is that I just wanted to completely close the Cydia Store before the end of the year and were planning to change the schedule after receipt of the report (until this weekend); this service makes me lose money and it 's not something that i have no pbadion to maintain.

Needless to say, the cost of maintaining the Cydia Store was not worth it, he did not want to maintain it anymore. For now, purchases on Cydia are currently disabled, which means that users can no longer buy Cydia Store items.

Saurik says that a more official post will appear next week with additional details on the future of the Cydia Store.

To be clear, Cydia himself will still be there, however, the backend for payments (on the main repositories) will no longer be in use. You will still be able to download previous purchases and make purchases on third-party repositories.
