On Wednesday morning, July 18, Blue Origin launched the ninth mission of "New Shepherd". – which was built right here in Kent – from its facility in Texas, successfully completing its most critical test to date. This is not the first time we do this kind of extreme testing on New Shepard, we did simulate a thruster failure on the launch pad in October 2012 and managed to escape, and in October 2016 we had simulated an overflight failure in flight at Max Q, which is the most physically painful point in the flight of the rocket, and which managed to escape from the capsule.
This test on M9 , we finally managed to characterize the performance of the exhaust engine in the void of space and to guarantee the return of our astronauts in any phase of flight.
