Valve, the developer of iconic franchises such as Team Fortress, Portal and Half-Life, has released its first complete game in over five years. Artifact is a PC-based GCC, priced at $ 20 / £ 16 / AU $ 28. To celebrate the launch of Artifact – which will arrive on iOS and Android in 2019 – Valve has also released a new trailer, which you can look at above.

Artifact is conceptually based on Dota 2, another Valve title. In the game, players compete on three separate game boards – similar to the Dota 2 corridors -. The victory is awarded to the one who successfully navigates on the side of his opponent and destroys two of the three enemy towers or beats the old after a tower is destroyed.

Each player has a pack of 40 cards, five of which are heroes. Forty different heroes are currently available, allowing players to start proposing different strategies. The other 35 cards in a player's game are hero abilities and objects, divided into four different color themes – red, green, black, and blue – based on their unique effects on the board.

Artifact is designed by Richard Garfield, who previously created the very popular card game Magic: The Gathering. The full review of the new title by GameSpot is planned, but in the meantime, take a look at the beta gameplay of Artifact.
