Kelowna fire department firefighters overturned a potentially dangerous fire on Knox Mountain

Firefighters were called around 4:30 pm Friday afternoon for a fire near Stoneypointe Court. Some homes were evacuated as a precaution

The fire initially burned in some trees, but was later described as a rank 2 fire.

It grew to about 150 feet by 150 feet.

It was the second fire on Knox Mountain in three days. On Wednesday, neighbors grabbed watering pipes to extinguish a fire on Mount Royal Drive

This fire was triggered by a spark of a gardening tool.

The upper half of Knox Mountain Drive was closed to automobile traffic conditions and a high risk of fire.
