The OPP identifies a man killed in a plane crash near North Bay

NORTH BAY, Ont. – The provincial police identified the man who died in a plane crash near North Bay, Ontario at the age of 57.

They say that Michael MacNeil was killed after the ultralight aircraft descended into the bush. 100 meters from Talon Lake, Township of Bonfield, Ontario, Monday morning

Police say that a fire broke out at the scene of the accident and that the cottage owners locals reacted quickly to the situation

. They tried to extinguish the fire by using buckets and coolers full of water, handing them to each other in a chain up to the crash site

Police say MacNeil , who was declared dead on the scene, was the only one

Ontario Provincial Police say the Transportation Safety Board investigates the accident
