How cold is the Tesla Model 3 range?

According to YouTuber Moshe (The Israeli electric), its Tesla Model 3 range was down 42% on a recent vacation trip to New York. Temperatures in the region dropped to about 17 Farenheit (-8 Celsius), and the wind chill made it feel much colder. We are not surprised that the car offers less range, as it is well known that vehicles are not as efficient in cold weather. This is especially true for electric cars, but there are many factors, and it also depends on the steps you take to "help" the problem. That said, some of these steps may or may not be possible depending on your situation.

In simple terms, a hot battery will provide greater autonomy. So, preconditioning is essential if possible. You can warm the badpit and the battery while the car is plugged in, so that once you're on the road, you already have the potential to mitigate the impact of the cold which impoverishes your autonomy. Tire pressure is also essential. It is therefore important to check that your tires are properly inflated because they have probably lost the pressure due to the cold weather.

Moshe drives Model 3 around the city of New York. He only shows images of slower city driving, however, he mentions having to go home after the trip. We have no way of knowing for sure, but we imagine that he had to take the car on the highway. We also have no way of knowing how he drove the car, whether he 's pre – conditioned or whether it' s ensured that the tires were full. Nevertheless, based on the display of Model 3, the car used a range of 171 miles, although the trip itself was only about 108 miles. The trip required 37 kWh of energy, and it used an average of 346 Wh / mile.
