This city near Toronto is one of the only places where you can actually afford to buy a home.

The average value for homes in Ontario has just been revealed and it's actually inferior to what you might think. Given the size, condition of the homes and the market, the average home is valued at only $ 440,000.

Of course, you will not find this surprisingly affordable price in Toronto a lot, but you do not have to go that far either. In fact, the city of Hamilton, about an hour's drive from Toronto, is one of the only places in Ontario with more than 100 homes priced below the provincial average.

Hamilton is becoming a paradise for homebuyers recently and it is now clear why. With the provincial average revealed at $ 440,000, it is clear that not only does Hamilton have hundreds of homes at this price, but even below that level.

These are not condos either, but rather real homes of both townhouses and detached homes. For example, in Hamilton, at least 35 homes are currently on the market for less than $ 300,000, with almost all of them being completely independent.

Hamilton is even better for millennial homebuyers and extremely low real estate prices are not the only reason. In 2016, demographics revealed that the millennial generation was actually the largest population group in Hamilton. This means that you would be in good company if you decided to move there.

The city of Hamilton even has a program to help homebuyers for low-income people looking to buy a property there. The program offers a conditionally repayable loan to first-time homebuyers in Hamilton with household incomes under $ 80,000, which again seems to be geared to the millennials.

Hamilton could be the best place for millennial homebuyers but it's not the only place where homes are below the provincial average. You can also find affordable housing in locations just outside the Greater Toronto Area, such as Keswick in the north and Oshawa in the east, among others.
