Three people taken to hospital after explosion in Whitby residence

Three people were injured after an explosion at a Whitby home on Wednesday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:35 pm. in a house on Cedar Street, near Garden and Dundas Streets.

Police said three men were located by firefighters inside the residence and were taken to the hospital.

Officers inspected other homes in the area, but police said the blast seemed to be an isolated incident.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known.

Pine Street, between Mary and Dundas Streets, was closed as a precaution.

Whitby Fire Services are investigating the scene.
