Toronto police scrambled agents to patrol the CN Tower and surrounding areas on Thursday after receiving unconfirmed reports of a "potential risk to public safety," but the police downplayed reports of a possible vehicle attack. Michael Barsky declined to provide details on what the police learned, but told reporters that a heightened police presence will allow the occupied area, which includes a number of major tourist attractions, to stay open as usual.
Meanwhile, the York Regional Police intensified its patrols near Canada's Wonderland, north of the city.

Earlier Thursday, Toronto Police spokesman Mark Pugash confirmed that the authorities had received "an uncorroborated piece of information and uncorroborated ". Two Toronto media outlets issued an internal memo stating that security measures had been taken as a result of "credible information" about a "car bomb attack".
