Two people killed in an accident involving three vehicles on Highway 6

Police say two people died after a collision of three vehicles on Haldimand County Road 6.

Emergency crews were called on the highway south of Walpole Concession at around 8:55 am on Wednesday following reports of an accident that resulted in two people being blocked.

One vehicle was moving south on the road when it collided with another vehicle heading north, the provincial police said. A third vehicle turned around to avoid the accident and found itself in the ditch.

A 59-year-old southbound pbadenger was declared dead at the scene, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.

The driver of the vehicle, aged 18, was taken to hospital and died as a result of his injuries. Police say the two victims are men from Haldimand County, but their identities are not revealed.

Police said that a 27-year-old woman and a one-year-old child who were in the northbound vehicle were rushed to hospital with injuries, but should survive.

A man driving the third vehicle, which crashed into the ditch, was not injured.

OPP road collision investigators are on the scene and the road should be closed for several hours.
