UPDATE: 1:30 am – Highway 97 was closed between Summerland and Peachland due to a wildfire activity.

A traffic closure was provided only if it was absolutely necessary, according to the BC Wildfire Service

The highway between Summerland and Peachland was closed due to a forest fire.

DriveBC says that Highway 97 is closed in both directions because of a fire. Travelers are urged to borrow other roads through Highway 97C, Highway 5A and Highway 3.

DriveBC indicates that a badessment is underway, and that the closing time of the highway is not known. The next update will take place at 4:30 pm
