At 9:15 am, there are over 35,000 Maritime Electric customers without electricity in the province.
Kim Griffin of Maritime Electric said the crews had been working since 2:30 to restore power, and that subcontractor teams had been invited to help.
Griffin said the combination of high winds and heavy snow is "worrying".
"We have had several trees felled so far," she told the Guardian this morning. "We are still evaluating, customers have telephoned us with what they have seen, we have received power lines on roads where they have informed us, so we make sure to clarify them."
Griffin said having customers who phoned and let Maritime Electric know what they were seeing was a great help.
At that time, Griffin said that she did not know when all the current would be restored, but added that there were teams in the west, the center and the US. is from the province.
