Voyeur arrested on BCIT campus after allegedly taking pictures in the washroom

A man was arrested at the BCIT campus in Burnaby Monday afternoon after taking pictures of women in a bathroom.

BCIT sent a notice Monday night to staff and students about the incident, which occurred in building NE1

The institution stated that the RCMP had been notified immediately and that the suspect had been arrested. BCIT says that he is currently detained.

"BCIT takes this incident very seriously and works closely to support RCMP investigators," reads the report.

The institution stated that it would not disclose the name of the suspect because of his legal duty to protect the privacy and confidentiality of students and the staff and because of the ongoing police investigation.

He was "dismayed" when he saw the email.

"I'm just disgusted that this is happening here at my school," David said.

"This should never happen here on campus, we have so many security measures in place."

This is not the first time that a voyeur has stopped on campus.
