Warframe, the popular free-to-play cooperative science fiction shooter, arrives on the Nintendo Switch. The news was announced at the annual gaming convention, TennoCon. At TennoCon 2018, the creator of Warframe Digital Extremes has confirmed that a version of Nintendo Switch is under development and is being developed in collaboration with Panic Button. The game is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC. No release date has yet been revealed and it is impossible to know if the game would benefit from cross-play support like other titles such as Rocket League and Fortnite. It is also unclear whether Warframe on Nintendo Switch would allow users to continue their progression from existing versions of the game to Nintendo's hybrid console.
The panic button on the Warfare port of Nintendo Switch is encouraging. The studio was responsible for Doom, Rocket League, and more recently Wolfenstein 2 (which was running on the Nintendo Switch despite the many hardware restrictions). It will be interesting to see what the reductions will be made for the game to be playable on the dull hardware of the Nintendo Switch.
Warframe is a third-person shooter that allows you to master Warframe's armor as a Tenno, race of ancient warriors brought back from centuries of cryo-sleep by a guide known as the Lotus name. There are over 35 different Warframes to choose from, a multitude of customization options, and upgrades galore. The game also offers the option of joining clans and having pets. The game was released for the first time in 2013 and has seen a ton of updates from open world areas like the recently announced Eidolon Plains and Fortuna.
