Warframe crossplay on Nintendo Switch? The developer says he's "exploring all the options"

[ad_1]

Nintendo Switch had a very good month – especially for its free-to-play players. Nintendo announced during the E3 2018 that Epic Games would bring Fortnite to the console and Digital Extremes recently announced that it would do the same for its third-person shooter, Warframe.

The difference between the games – well, apart from the obvious differences in the plot and the gameplay – is that the first is available for cross play while the latter is not … at least not yet.

"Since the announcement of the arrival of Warframe at the Switch, we have received an incredible number of positive feedback from our community players and from Nintendo," says Sheldon Carter, director of Digital Extremes Studio, in TechRadar. "We're exploring all the options for people to play on and with the Nintendo Switch."

While a Digital Extremes representative could not tell us when, exactly, this feature could occur, they badured us that he was currently under investigation and said that it was something that the company would like to do.

If that happened, Warframe would join the likes of Minecraft which recently announced the crossplay for its Xbox One and Nintendo Switch players.

Decisions, Decisions

But the crossplay is only one of the problems faced by a developer when launching a free-to-play game on a new platform. The other allows players to use an account to connect to multiple consoles – a feature that the gaming community is doubling. Without this, players may face a difficult decision as to which platform to play on.

We have sought clarification on this point and it seems that, unfortunately, the current situation, weapons and progress will not be transferred between the platforms.

While Digital Extremes has nothing left to say about cross-progression right now, it's planned to ease the transition to the Switch for its main players: "Previously, when we launched on D & # 39; "Other consoles we've supported account migrations once, which would also be our original goal for Switch," Carter said.

There is always a possibility that this changes before the release of the game at some point hope is lost.
