The clip focuses on a group of girls in a small town in Mbadachusetts, who investigate the sudden and strange disappearance of their friend Katie. Using Katie's Internet search history, the girls discover the mythical Slender Man and decide to head to the forest to summon the creature, believing that it will make their friend.
Of course, they cause a host of horrors. The trailer is filled with worrying plans from the inescapable Slender Man terrorizing teens, ripping them off with sprawling arms, penetrating their heads and even possessing their bodies.
Slender Man's character appeared on the Something Awful forums in 2009 and developed a dedicated online follow-up. The story, however, took a frightening turn of real life in 2014 when two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls attempted to murder their clbadmate as a sacrifice to the fictional monster. Bill Weier, the father of one of the two girls at the center of the Slender Man trial, said the film had a "very bad taste" and he urged the theaters not to show it.
