Santa Claus is coming to town, and the city is throwing a parade to mark the occasion.

The Welland Santa Claus Parade returns for its 2018 run this Saturday, Nov. 17, kicking off the Christmas season in the Rose City. Kicking off at 4 p.m., the parade will continue its long-standing tradition of floats, bands, community groups, and Santa making their way from Canadian Tire Financial Services down East Main Street to the Civic Square. The mayor's youth advisory council will be collecting along the way for Open Arms Mission and children should be remembered.

As in years past, the business will be rounded off with Santa Claus officially opening the city. Free hot chocolate and treats – including taffy from White Meadow Farms – will be available, alongside the opportunity for kids to complete a Christmas craft.

After the official celebrations wrap up individuals and families are invited to stick around for a little extra festive cheer as Disney's Prep & Landing will hit the civic square's outdoor big screen.
