CANTON, Ohio – Health officials in Canton have issued an alert after the recent deaths of four people suspected of overdose.
According to Canton City Public Health, overdoses have occurred in recent days.
The CCPH recommends that anyone who uses drugs:
• never use alone
• have naloxone (Narcan) readily available
• use fentanyl test strips
• to try
• know the symptoms of overdose
• ALWAYS call 911 in case of overdose
• stay with the patient until the arrival of help
• know your stock and test your product in case of doubt
• Call the Opiate Support Line (330-454-HELP) for additional information on detoxification, treatment, education, system navigation and other resources.
Naloxone can be recovered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Coleman Crisis Services. You can reach CCS at 330-452-6000.
Residents of Stark County who want to help should:
• know the symptoms of an overdose and call 911 if you see someone who needs help
• have naloxone (Narcan) and be trained to administer
• stay with the patient until the arrival of help
• Bring unused, unwanted or expired medications to one of the 18 permanent care boxes in Stark County.
