A very shorthanded Caps team will welcome the Buffalo Sabers again this afternoon for their fourth meeting in ten days. With a depleted lineup, Washington will be looking at their depth in order to add a fourth taco to the Buffalo row on my taco board, which I won’t explain.
The puck is handed in at 3 p.m. Make a mimosa, put on your housewives, stream the game and cast it with me, Peter, on recap duty.

Nope. No idea. No Ovi, no Kuzy, no Orlov, no Wilson. I’m not even going to guess. Instead, here’s a close up of the captain.

Oh no. He is eyeing the dashboard. It is never a good sign.
Here are all the goalies with two hours of play, from worst (left) to best (right).
Oh oh, only Pittsburgh has worse goaltending issues, well I’m sure it will get better soon. How’s the Vancouver defense, HockeyViz?
Well, that’s not ideal.

The Snek and the silver lining
Jakub vrana has been Washington’s best player this season. I called that, and I was right. (I was wrong on other things, but let’s not discuss these just yet.) Four of Vrana’s five points, including his three goals, came against the Sabers, which he will have to frustrate again today. ‘hui. He is ready.
If there is any benefit to Washington’s really bad week, it’s giving more ice time and more opportunities to 24-year-old Vrana at her peak. I wrote about this this morning, and I’m extremely proud of this concise photoshop I made (using Elizabeth’s photos):
