Cardi B brought the red carpet to the Met Gala

Last year, Cardi B organized his first gala, and naturally, he made it count. Cardi arrived at the divine themed gala in a Moschino gown encrusted with gems worthy of a queen, thus showing his baby bump. After spending months hiding her pregnancy with basques that hid her belly and trapeze skirts, Cardi opted for a look that accentuated her maternity curves: plunging neckline, waist-tailored waist and bold leg.

This year, the singer has opted for something much more reserved. She presented herself in front of the Met Gala's red carpet completely covered, from head to toe, in a Thom Browne dress made to measure with an anatomically precise sang-froid, which extends outward in concentric circles about ten feet. Crafted from tulle and silk organza and lined with down, the hand-embroidered dress is also decorated with 30,000 burnt and tinted shell feathers. It took more than 2,000 hours of creation for 35 people, and it was completed by a helmet made by Browne in collaboration with Stephen Jones.

Browne says that he was inspired primarily by the female form. "I have specially designed this dress for Cardi because it has the ultimate beauty in a woman's body, and that's what it's for me: enjoy this beauty" explains the designer. Despite its full coverage, the dress really focuses on certain areas – these are yonic embellishments, a heart-shaped cutout at the back and 44ct ruby nipples, custom-designed by Stefere Jewerly, which cost $ 250,000. Only Cardi manages to show no skin, while drawing attention to every part of the body.
