LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington branch of CASA gathered heroes at Winstar Farms for its 9th “Superhero 5K Run” on Saturday.
CASA advocates for abused children in the justice system. Executive Director Melynda Jamison says the race for superheroes is about recognizing that casa workers are real superheroes.
“So CASA works with abused and neglected children. We feel like these kids need superheroes. And our CASA volunteers are real superheroes. For them because they defend what is in their secure and permanent interest. So we are here today to raise awareness about casa, support the organization and raise funds for it, ”said Melynda Jamison.
The event raised $ 25,000 in donations.
