Cornerback Deandre Baker got his first playing time in defense since joining the Chiefs on Sunday, but his day ended prematurely.

Baker suffered a horrific leg injury as a result of a foul by Justin Herbert early in the third quarter. He stayed on the ground for quite a while before being put on a stretcher which was loaded onto a large cart so that he could be taken off the pitch.

Baker signed with the Chiefs Training Team after the armed robbery charges against him were dropped in November. He was a Giants first-round pick in 2019, but released by the team after those charges were initially filed.

The Chiefs still lag the Chargers 24-14, but the outcome won’t impact their playoff future. They are locked in the # 1 seed of the AFC.
