CBS to release black and white version of Jordan Peele's Twilight Zone

In April, CBS All Access kicked off the restart of Jordan Peele The twilight zone, the latest in a series of remakes of the franchise and the latest anthology show stemming from a streaming service. Now, CBS is releasing a new version, this time in black and white, reminiscent of the style of the original.

The first two episodes of the new series are very close to the original – so much so that critic Samantha Nelson noted that they were a bit weaker than they otherwise would have been. Some viewers complained about another aspect of the show: Peele's version was in color, unlike the originals, in black and white. Some fans have noticed that they adjusted their TV settings so that the new episodes look like the originals.

Now, the black and white version will debut on CBS All Access on May 30, and CBS has released a trailer that shows the change, which also provides a good overview of the series itself. Presumably, the original color version of the series will also remain available.

Prior to launching the show earlier this year, executive producer Simon Kinberg told Vulture that "we planned to make the entire series in black and white, because we were so obsessed with the original series", but we did not want to copy his style too much. "Black and white seemed like one step too much. It was not to honor him, but a true copy. "

Looks like they've changed their minds and decided to switch to black and white. The reason for Peele? "Because … come on."
