A murder suspect remained hospitalized Saturday following a fierce police chase that ended in a dramatic stalemate in Southern California, authorities said.

Friday afternoon, the detectives observed Maywood a man suspected of killing an owner of a local liquor store in Downey, said Downey police in a press release. The man looked like the suspect caught on video surveillance after a deadly shootout at the ASL Liquor Mart in Downey on May 7 and the police had received tips. The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was in Maywood.

A high-speed chase ended with a shootout and led to a deadlock with a murder suspect in Vernon on Friday.

The police saw the suspect entering a black Toyota Prius in front of a residence.

"When assistant police tried to control the traffic, a vehicle was pursued, the suspect fired on the pursuers, and an officer was shot and killed," said the Downey police statement.

During the high-speed chase, the alleged killer of a liquor store fired at the police through the front passenger seat window, featured on a video obtained by KABC station from ABC to Los Angeles.

The Prius finally stopped behind a truck and several policemen fired on the car bomb.

A woman, who was the driver, stumbled out of the car, covered in blood.

However, the passenger stuck to his weapons in the vehicle. According to the video, the police had to send a robot, a drone, sound grenades and even a K-9 unit that seems to have bitten the suspect before he was arrested.

Two Downey police vehicles were shot down, but no policemen were injured, KABC reported. A witness was seriously injured during the shooting, police said at KABC.

Downey Police Sgt. Kevin McCaster told ABC News Saturday that she had been neat and out of the local hospital and was in custody waiting to be brought to justice on Monday or Tuesday. McCaster also said the suspect remained in the hospital. The police have not yet identified the driver or the suspect.
