ALPENA Cutting-edge new technology will help nurses provide better care in northeast Michigan and beyond following a two-year renovation to Van Lare Hall at Alpena Community College.
On Saturday, the public will be able to see realistic training dummies recently installed in the building’s new nursing wing, to which the nursing program moved in July.
ACC’s new simulation lab is equivalent to any other training site elsewhere in the state, according to Terry McKenzie, who manages the lab.
The 55 nursing students in the program can perform a wide range of procedures on the mannequins, detailed to resemble humans as closely as possible, including making breathing sounds, producing a pulse at all standard pulse points, and oozing blood to the point. an injection.
After donors who supported the renovation of the building visit the new wing on Friday, the public will be able to visit the simulation lab on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. No reservation is required.
