CDC data suggests coronavirus death toll is near 400,000

As the United States broke another gruesome record with more than 3,000 coronavirus deaths in a single day, data from the Centers for Disease Control suggests that the true cumulative death toll in the United States is nearly 400,000 lost souls.

According to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University, the official U.S. coronavirus death toll for Wednesday was 3,157. The officially confirmed total U.S. death toll is now 273,847 on Wednesday.

But according to an analysis of CDC data on “additional deaths from COVID-19,” the actual death toll is at least another 100,000. Of The New York Times:

The data shows how the coronavirus pandemic, which is peaking in many states, is leading to unusual death patterns, higher than official death totals directly related to the virus.
