“The CDC’s Independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) plans to meet on Wednesday and Thursday, October 20 and 21 to discuss COVID-19 vaccine recalls for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson,” a spokesperson said from CDC to CNN in an email.

“In addition, ACIP will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday November 2 and 3 to discuss pediatric vaccination against COVID-19. “

This means that children 11 and under in the United States are unlikely to be able to start the vaccination before Halloween.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has scheduled its advisor meetings for October 14 and 15 to discuss the recalls, and then October 26 to discuss Pfizer’s claim for children ages 5 to 11. After the FDA decision, the matter is referred to the CDC.

Pfizer is already clearing booster doses of its vaccine for some people who had their first set of vaccines six months or more ago. Moderna and Johnson & Johnson have both requested booster doses for their vaccines.
