CDPHE Terminates Dr. Moma Health & Wellness Clinic from Participation in CDC’s COVID-19 Vaccination Program

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has completed its investigation into the operations of the Dr. Moma Health & Wellness Clinic. According to the El Paso County Public Health report, the clinic was operating without proper temperature storage for vaccines. There were also issues with good social distancing as well as unmasked workers.

The CDPHE suspended the clinic’s participation on April 9, 2021.

Based on a review of all information, the CDPHE has officially terminated the Dr. Moma Health & Wellness Clinic from further participation in the CDC’s COVID-19 vaccination program effective October 7, 2021.

The CDPHE determined that the Dr. Moma Health & Wellness Clinic violated the agreement of the CDC COVID-19 vaccination program provider in the following ways:

  • Failure to store and handle COVID-19 vaccines under proper conditions.
  • Failure to monitor storage unit temperatures at all times using equipment and practices consistent with CDC Vaccine Storage and Handling Toolkit guidelines.
  • Failure to comply with CDPHE guidelines for the management of temperature differences.
  • Failure to meet requirements for safe immunization service practices during the COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to meet social distancing or masking requirements in all areas of the clinic.
  • Failure to comply with billing requirements outlined in CDC COVID-19 vaccine supplier contract.

After consulting with the CDC, the CDPHE found that all patients who received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Dr. Moma’s clinic “should be offered revaccination due to associated vaccine delivery errors. improper storage and handling ”. CDPHE will send updated guidelines regarding additional and booster doses to those who received the vaccine at this clinic.

Dr. Moma Health & Wellness is a federally determined provider of monoclonal antibodies. The CDPHE communicated the findings of the investigation to our federal partners and recommended not to continue with this supplier.
