IRVINE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A city anchored in the railroad… celebrates this story at the Ravenna Railroad Festival.

Hundreds of people shared memories and train rides.

The two-day festival ends Sunday and features arts, crafts, vintage cars, food and music. This is the railroad with routes available in trains of all sizes. Some lucky people were even able to drive the steam engine.

“My son Jeremiah loves trains and today he wears his great-grandfather’s cap. Our family thinks it’s very special, so you just have to know how much the railroad is a part of our lives. My papaya was actually born in a train car, so the railways have been a special part of our family. It’s very special to see trains running in these courtyards again, it’s really cool. said Kim McGowan, granddaughter of a railway worker.

The festival included a tribute to the 20th anniversary of September 11, a tribute to community first responders and the singing of the national anthem by Miss Kentucky Haley Wheeler of Powell County.
