Walmart said on July 31 that the closure would allow time to properly sanitize the store.
“As you know, several parts of the country have started to see a further increase in positive COVID-19 cases, mainly in areas with low vaccination rates, and we want to help health officials battling the pandemic. As part of this effort, we have elected to temporarily close our Baton Rouge, LA store at 10200 Sullivan Rd today at 2:00 p.m. as part of a company-initiated program. This will allow more time for a third-party specialist to further sanitize the store and will also give our associates more time to restock the shelves and prepare the store to serve the community again. “
The store plans to reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday. Once reopened, the store said it would offer two hours of paid time off to employees if they needed to get vaccinated. They also offer a bonus of $ 75.
