SARANAC LAKE – The Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce announced last week that the 2021 Company of the Year is Wilkins Agency.

The Company of the Year award was created to honor a chamber member who has made a significant contribution to the community through a business expansion, business initiative and / or an overall success. The Wilkins agency has served the community for many years and co-owners Carla Navarra and Lori Dramm have been recognized for their hard work, commitment to the communities the company serves and, most importantly, their compassion for other members. from the community.

The Citizen of the Year Award was created in 1975 to honor a local resident who has made a significant and sustained contribution to the quality of life in Saranac Lake. Tom has lived in Saranac Lake his entire life and has owned and operated Hyde Fuel Company for over 40 years which is now an employee owned business.

The chamber also honored Dorothy Fobare, posthumously, for her dedication to the community. She has volunteered for many organizations throughout her life, was an active and loyal member of St. Bernard’s Church, and a founding member and driving force in the success of Historic Saranac Lake.

The awards were presented at the Chamber’s 100th anniversary celebration and annual dinner last Thursday at the Saranac Waterfront Lodge. The annual dinner included updates from Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Rachel Karp and Chamber Board Chairman Dani Delaini, as well as an online auction and live music from ‘Andy Walkow.

The chamber thanked all who attended the annual dinner, the annual dinner sponsors: Adirondack Health, Adirondack Daily Enterprise and Bionique Testing Laboratories, as well as the companies and organizations who donated articles and experiments to the “Discover the Lake Saranac region” online auctions.
