Chandrayaan-2, the second Indian spacecraft on the moon, will be inserted into the lunar orbit Tuesday morning, the Indian space agency announced.

According to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), by launching Chandrayaan-2 onboard engines, the spacecraft will be moved to lunar orbit.

Following the insertion of Chandrayaan-2 into the lunar orbit, ISRO will conduct four additional maneuvers in orbit (August 21, 28 and 30 and September 1) to enter this final orbit through the lunar poles at distance of about 100 km from the moon. area.

Subsequently, the LG Vikram will separate from the orbiter on September 2, 2019.

Two maneuvers in orbit will be performed on the LG before the start of the motorized descent in order to land smoothly on the lunar surface on September 7, 2019, the ISRO announced.

On July 22, the Chandrayaan-2 was injected into a 170 x 45,475 km elliptical orbit by the high-launch geo-synchronous satellite launcher Mark (GSLV Mk III) in the style of a manual. .

The spacecraft comprises three segments: the Orbiter (2,379 kg, eight payloads), the "Vikram" undercarriage (1,471 kg, four payloads) and the "Pragyan" aircraft (27 kg, two payloads). ).
