Fred Blankenship of Channel 2 shared a video message on Friday thanking viewers for their thoughts and wishes as he recovers from a groundbreaking case of COVID-19.

“I feel a lot better and I am doing better. Thank you to so many of you for your wishes. So many people have been through this kind of situation. It can be devastating. I am very lucky. My doctor says that because I was vaccinated I was able to stay out of the hospital. It makes me think that everyone please, please be healthy.

“I’ll see you amazing people on Monday because I hope I’m feeling good and ready to go. Until then, something I want to leave with you, something that Eddie Murphy said on “Coming to America” many years ago. ‘To be loved, to be loved. Oh what a feeling to be loved. ‘ Thank you. That’s what I feel.
