Chargers drop to Cowboys, 20-17, in week 2 of the 2021 season

The Chargers started the second quarter on their own 41-yard line. On 3rd and 11th, Herbert connected with tight end Jared Cook for a 12-yard run giving the Chargers another first try on that record. The Chargers’ third down success continued from last weekend as Herbert connected with Mike Williams for a 27-yard pass down the middle, bringing the Chargers to the Dallas 12-yard line.

The next play, the Chargers scored their first touchdown of the day as Herbert again found Williams for a 12-yard touchdown pass, the touchdown capped a 10-play, 75-yard practice for the Bolts. Austin Ekeler converted the two-point conversion with a run down the middle to bring the score to 14-11, Dallas.

The Cowboys were able to enter Chargers territory in their next practice, but the Bolts forced a turnaround on the downs as Samuel Jr. broke a pass intended for Amari Cooper in the 4th and 5th. The Chargers were forced to kick the ball on the two-minute warning, however, Dallas was called up for a kick penalty that kept the ball in the hands of the Chargers in Dallas territory.

Vizcaino missed the 44-yard field goal attempt with three seconds left in the half, Dallas was stopped in his next practice as time ended in the second quarter. The Chargers entered the locker room at halftime 14-11 behind.
