CHICAGO (WLS) – Some snow is expected in parts of the Chicago area on Monday, and high winds are creating lakeside flood advisories.

Light snowfall is possible in Chicago on Monday morning and afternoon, but snow will mainly build up in northwest Indiana later in the day, ABC 7 Chicago meteorologist Greg Dutra said. .

Some groups could produce 5 or 6 inches of snow, he said. La Porte County is expected to receive more precipitation.

La Porte, Marshall, Saint Joseph and Starke counties in Indiana are under Winter storm watch 11:32 a.m. EST Sunday to 9 a.m. EST Tuesday.

Strong winds will cause wave heights to rise over Lake Michigan, prompting flood advisories from northern Cook County to northwest Indiana, Dutra said.

In central and northern Cook County, a Lakeside flood warning is in effect from 9:42 a.m. Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Tuesday.

In La Porte County, a Lakeside flood warning is in effect from 11:06 a.m. EST to 5:00 p.m. EST Tuesday.

In Lake and Porter counties, Indiana, a Lakeside flood warning is also in effect from 10:42 a.m. EST Sunday to 1:00 p.m. EST Tuesday.
