Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be on the field for Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills.
Mahomes told reporters on Friday he was eligible to play:
By ESPN Adam teicherHead coach Andy Reid said on Friday that Mahomes only needed clearance from an independent neurologist and the Chiefs team doctor after going through all the other steps necessary to return from a concussion.
Reid added that Mahomes has “well done” and looked “normal” in Chiefs practice this week.
The Texas Tech product left Kansas City’s win over the Cleveland Browns with a concussion, who left the team with Chad Henne under center. To say it was a drop is an understatement, as the save threw a terrible interception to keep Cleveland close at hand.
The Kansas City starter looks well on the way to an all-time great career.
Mahomes is a Super Bowl champion, league MVP and three-time Pro Bowler at just 25 years old. If he continues on his current path, he will be a sure-fire Hall of Fame member and a regular at debating some of the best players in history.
Going up against a Bills team that has an explosive offense and has won eight straight games, the Chiefs will have to do their best if they are to return to the Super Bowl for the second year in a row.
A healthy Mahomes will go a long way in helping Kansas City achieve its goals.
