Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes gushes over Tyreek Hill: ‘No one else like him’

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is by far the best player in his role with more than 3,000 yards after 11 games. So it’s fitting for Mahomes to say there isn’t a wide receiver he wants in the league more than Tyreek Hill.

In the Chiefs’ 27-24 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Hill had 13 receptions for 269 yards and three touchdowns. Mahomes spoke about Hill’s performance during his weekly appearance on Kansas City 610 Sports Radio’s “The Drive”.

“I think the biggest thing is how he’s developed as a road racer and the number of contested takes he makes,” Mahomes said Monday. “You see him week after week he’s consistent, he’s the most dangerous guy in football and if he’s not doubled then he’s going to shake things up.”

In Week 12, Hill leads the NFL in receiving yards (1021) and touchdowns (13). Hill, who is 5ft 10in and 185 pounds, isn’t the prototypical wide receiver all teams are looking for, but Mahomes thinks Hill is in a class of his own.

“Yeah, I mean there’s nobody in this league that I would have on this team other than him,” said Mahomes. “The way he’s able to win one on one [coverage] and the ability he has to take tough holds in traffic. He’s a special guy. There is no one else like him in the NFL. It helps everyone open up because you have to cover it twice every time or else it will charge you like it did yesterday.
