From January 1 to June 24, 1,413 cruises arrived in the country's various ports, registering an increase of 20% over the same period last year. This increase consolidates Mexico as one of the major tourist destinations worldwide, according to statistics from the Ports Branch and Merchant Marine.

The same unit reports that since the beginning of the current six-year period and at the end of 2017, the arrival of cruises in Mexico has increased by 42%, from 1,743 pleasure boats to a total of 2,486 per year.

The number of cruise pbadengers also recorded a significant increase according to official information: just consider that on June 24 of the current year, there were four million 80,718 pbadengers against three million 459,000 in the same period last year; these numbers allow us to identify a growth of about 17%.

For Ruth Leal, director for Latin America's Princess Cruises – the first shipping company that made arrivals at Mexican ports -, Mexico is one of the world's leading cruise destinations; He felt that more and more people are choosing to take vacations in this format, taking into account the cost-benefit ratio that he offers. Likewise, Mexicans maintain this trend, says Leal.

The shipping representative indicated that Mexicans prefer cruises in Europe, the Caribbean and Alaska, with three entities from which more pbadengers come from Mexican cruises: City of Mexico, Nuevo León and Jalisco

Finally, he adds that the boats offer different promotions to groups and conventioners, offering companies more options to organize their annual conferences and offer incentives to their staff.
