Deaf to History

  ProtestaMasaya

Ortega felt poorly paid for his sacrifice and his long years in prison. Since then, he has developed a revenge mentality

Many, wanting to be smart, have now begun to hint that Somoza was better than Ortega. Even, it was less bloodthirsty. Cynically, they want us to forget the origin of the Somoza dynasty: the premeditated and cowardly murder of Sandino. A dictatorship that, like most dictatorships, emerged with blood stained hands. And do not forget prisons, full of political prisoners all the time.

It is stupid to want to falsify history, especially when it is recorded with blood in the collective memory. Therefore, it is not possible to forget that the Somozas had more than one torture room, from the presidential house, to many other famous dungeons. It should not be forgotten that many of the strategies that Ortega has put into practice, both to stay in power and for its illicit enrichment, have been developed with insolence by the Somozas.

Ortega, in what goes beyond the Somozas dynasty, is that he has only managed to equal an entire murderous family. It should be noted that the weather favored Ortega, because Somoza García could not govern all the time that was proposed. Had it not been for Rigoberto López Pérez's attack, his term and his day of blood would have lasted much longer. And Somoza Debayle was overthrown by the continued resistance of a Nicaragua who never resigned himself to being subjugated. The fight that ended in a popular uprising and was certainly led by the Sandinista Front. Debayle also did not think to finish his bloody feat, and already he saw that he dreamed of giving the throne to his son "El Chigüín". It is clear that without these two forced interruptions, the somoazist barbarism would have lasted much longer.

In what Daniel Ortega is worse than the Somozas, it is that the Nicaraguan politician has been deaf to the calls of the history or in otherwise, the one who makes the worst interpretation of what the. history asks him.

The entry of these two characters into the political life of Nicaragua badumed a different fate for each of them. Somoza Garcia does it as a hitman in the service of the United States, who in exchange for the murder of Sandino, grant him the post of Chief of the National Guard, his fate was corrupt from the beginning and had an indelible mark of blood. Daniel Ortega entered the political life as a member of the Sandinista Front, which, as its name indicated, was intended to liberate Nicaragua from this corrupt and bloody dynasty.

What gave birth to the Sandinista Front was not, as many now want to badume, the hatred or the idea of establishing communism in Nicaragua. The Sandinista Front appeared because the only alternative left by the Somoza family to come out of power was the armed struggle. The story also tells that the Sandinistas were not the first to attempt an armed action to overthrow the Tirana family. It was therefore clear that the Sandinista Front's liberating mission and its members, including Ortega, were destined to become heroes.

This call, this opportunity, the story was given to Ortega in 1979, when the Sandinista Front took power for the first time. The call was to build a democratic and fair Nicaragua, the conditions were given, the army defeat suffered by the National Guard allowed the creation of a new army, which was also called to be the guarantor of this new democracy. This opportunity, Ortega did not see it, did not have the vision to see it. In fact, no Sandinista had it. Then Ortega understood that history asked him to cling to power with the claw, at any cost and impose his idea of government without listening to the demands of Nicaraguan society.

The second call that Ortega received was in 1990, when he delivered power to Violeta Chamorro, after clearly losing the elections. What history asked him at the time, was to abandon any claim to return to power, and if at least he did not withdraw from politics, he would at least responsible for the democratization of his party, the Sandinista Front. History has invited him to live a democratic life. This was not seen for mere pride, for the simple imbalance, because the defeat at the polls showed that the Nicaraguan people did not want him and before that defeat, Ortega felt poorly paid for his sacrifice and his long years in prison. Since then, he has developed a revenge mentality and insisted on the return to power using all kinds of tricks, political blackmail and street rebellion were his main resources, in what he called: "to govern "Down," understand, destabilize

The third, Ortega, received it recently, in April 2018. A dramatic and urgent appeal that he had to listen to from the very first murders executed by his police; that he had to listen when the crowds rushed into the street to ask him to leave; that he had to listen again, when Masaya, and all of Nicaragua, made his decision: Let him go. Right now the story is knocking on his door, he seems not to hear or hear it again upside down.
