US authorities investigate the company's operations in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Venezuela since 2007.
Shares of Glencore, the world's largest commodity trader, suffered declines of more than 10% the London Stock Exchange, after the company reported that one of its subsidiaries has received a subpoena from the US Department of Justice to report compliance with anti-bribery regulations with respect to relates to the activities of the company in Nigeria. Glencore Ltd, an American subsidiary of Glencore plc, has received a subpoena from the US Department of Justice to provide documents and other documents regarding compliance with foreign bribery and bribery laws. US money laundering laws, reported the multinational domiciled in Switzerland in a statement.
"The requested documents relate to the activity of Glencore in Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Venezuela from 2007 to today," the company added.
The commodity trader indicated that he was reviewing the badignment of the Department of Justice. United States and will provide more information in this regard in due course, as appropriate.
